I’m Laura Mugford, a writer and lover of poetry and children’s fiction, and ‘World Peas’ marks my children’s fiction debut. While at university I delved into the world of poetry and was a finalist for the Keats-Shelley Young Romantics Prize, which inspired me to pursue writing further and experiment with combining my passion for poetry and my theatre studies to begin writing plays. My writing for stage debut came in the form of a solo show ‘26.2 Reasons to Stay Alive’ which had its first public showings earlier this year. Back in 2020 I decided to try my hand at children’s fiction and dreamt up ‘World Peas’ which has now found its home at Chanthology.

"World Peas was a fun little project I wrote a few years ago inspired by reminiscing upon the funny miscommunications that would so often happen in my family growing up. It also explores how the world is seen through a child’s eyes, and how joy can be found in the simplest of things, as long as we’re open to a bit of silliness! It has been so exciting to see this magical little tale brought to life through Lilly’s gorgeous illustrations and see just how beautifully they capture the whimsical elements of the story. Seeing each page for the first time has been such a joy and I can’t wait to share ‘World Peas’ with the world. "
