I’m Laura Mugford, a writer and lover of poetry and children’s fiction, and ‘World Peas’ marks my children’s fiction debut. While at university I delved into the world of poetry and was a finalist for the Keats-Shelley Young Romantics Prize, which inspired me to pursue writing further and experiment with combining my passion for poetry and my theatre studies to begin writing plays. My writing for stage debut came in the form of a solo show ‘26.2 Reasons to Stay Alive’ which had its first public showings earlier this year. Back in 2020 I decided to try my hand at children’s fiction and dreamt up ‘World Peas’ which has now found its home at Chanthology.
If you were granted just one wish, what would you choose? The world is big and beautiful, but the grown-ups don’t seem happy. With the help of a mysterious tree creature, a wish, and a minor miscommunication, one little girl decides to change the world. Perhaps not in the way she had intended, but definitely for the better.
