kindle

For most of us, once you pick up a Kindle, there’s no going back! Let’s find out more.

Since they first came on the market in 2007, the Kindle has been the world’s e-reader of choice. Amazon has sold ‘tens of millions’ of those little grey rectangles to eager readers across the globe – and even though you can read eBooks on smartphones and tablets, you’ll always see Kindles wherever people are reading.

Of course, not everyone can be a Kindle fan. There are still some traditionalists who believe the classic paper book to be superior. In this article, we’ll give you five reasons why for today’s reader, it’s Kindles all the way.

1 – They’re so easy!

The fantastic thing about Kindles is how easy they are for today’s lifestyle. You can literally fit every book you could ever read in your life into one little grey machine. Can you imagine how much space that would take up if they were paper books?

Your Kindle is also light, extremely portable and fits in your coat pocket. What more could you ask for?

2 – Read it your way

When you buy a book, you’re stuck with the text size and fonts the publisher chose for you – not so with a Kindle.

Kindles let you customise everything about your reading experience. Want to make those letters a little bigger and easier to read? It’s simple with a Kindle.

3 – The world’s biggest bookshop

If you only read paper books and you want something that’s not a massive bestseller, you have to drag yourself from bookshop to bookshop to look for it – and there’s still no guarantee you’ll find it.

The Kindle Store has roughly 9 million books available. It’s simple to find the book you want, and you can be sure it will never be out of stock! Once you’ve found it, it’s downloadable in seconds – and you don’t even have to leave your sofa.

Often, you’ll find that the price of a Kindle eBook is significantly lower than that of a paper book. There’s even a wide range of free books. You won’t get that at your local bookshop.

4 – Keep it to yourself

Sometimes, you don’t want everyone to know what you’re reading. When you have a Kindle, no one can see the cover of your book and judge you on it!

5 – Learn as you read

If you’re reading a paper book and come across a word you don’t recognise, you have to find a dictionary, ask someone what it means or look it up online. If that happens when you’re reading a Kindle, all you have to do is touch the word and a definition will magically appear.

You can also easily highlight your favourite passages in your Kindle book and find out about other people’s highlights too.

The case for paper

So, you can see now why everyone loves Kindles so much. But, there are some benefits that paper books can give you that Kindles can’t:

  • Books are shareable – You can’t pass your favourite eBook on to your friends
  • They look good on shelves and remind you of good times
  • They feel nice to hold (well, not the heavy ones!)

Conclusion

If you’re an avid reader, there are so many benefits you can get from owning a Kindle. Paper books are good, but they can’t match the sheer simplicity and convenience of that little grey device.

Remember though, what you read on is not the most important thing – it’s much more vital that you enjoy what you read.
